Why exciting, you may ask?

Well, Instagram is the most popular app in the world, with over 80 million pictures uploaded every single day. And they are trying and succeeding in keeping it fresh and interesting. With every new update, they bring more filters, different looks and easier functions. They are also bringing new apps with different options compatible with ‘mother-app’ Instagram. After Hyperlapse (for time-lapse videos) and Carousel (for live feed of Instagram on Mac computers), latest addition was Boomerang, an app that allows you to shoot a one-second burst of five photos that are turned into a silent video that plays forwards and then reverses in an infinite loop, which you can post on Instagram or Facebook directly. That, of course, is not the last from apps connected to Instagram, but while we wait for a new addition to an Instagram-Facebook family, we got a new Instagram algorithm and new looks and, small but drastic change of logo icon.

First, as Facebook, Instagram now filters what you see based on your interest and history of behavior. As Instagram explained: ‘The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order—all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.’

So, it is up to you what you will Follow, and what you will see first. If you don’t want to see your posts forgotten somewhere in feed, you need to ask your Followers to turn on post notification for your Page, and you should do the same for your favorite Pages.

New and improved!

New login and sign-up screen was introduce to users few weeks ago, and now, they change the logo too. Some of Instagram users like it, some don’t, but it is here to stay. It is represented with a simpler outline of camera and rainbow in gradient form.

Beside Instagram, mentioned Hyperlapse, Boomerang and Layout (app that helps you combine more photos into one) are also have updated icons.

FUN FACT – Name Instagram is a blend of words ‘instant (camera)’ and ‘telegram’.
